MUMBAI, INDIA: This fiscal onward, our biometrics on the Aadhaar card will be recognised as digital signatures across services.
Next month, the GoI is expected to announce a new initiative aimed at integrating various processes and formalising the Aadhaar thumb prints as one stop authentication stop for all e-governance services.
In short, this means that citizens applying for passports or any other Aadhaar related services will not have to give separate finger and thumb prints. The respective offices will be provided with the access to the UIDAI infrastructure; they can download the relevant information and complete the procedure. A single window will not only save time but also storage space and prevent duplication of data, said Rajesh Agarwal, joint secretary, financial services, GoI.
Meanwhile, the latest announcement has brought a new ray of hope among the CIO community.
Ravikiran S Mankikar, Chief General Manager, Information Technology, SVC Bank, said, “We will shortly stop asking our customers to sign their KYC forms. We are in the process of signing a MoU with UIDAI. The strategic partnership will fasten our process, put an end to data duplication and give us more time to focus on our core business.”
