Launched in July 2020, Toppr Codr is a one-on-one live coding classes for children aged between 6 and 18 years. It teaches young students how to create their own apps, websites, games, and other interactive platforms using creative and playful experiences from their daily lives. The curriculum of Toppr Codr, created by graduates from MIT and IITs,  includes on-demand and self-paced modules, adaptive paths, one-on-one live personalized classes, and output based learning. Students can opt for basic or advanced levels of coding, based on their preference. It will be leveraging advanced technologies ranging from block-based to actual text-based coding platforms such as App Lab, Thunkable, Java, Arduino, and React Native along with Python for ML/AI etc. It is a valuable real-time extension beyond the regular school curriculum, helping bring skills needed to excel in the fourth industrial revolution to the students of K-12 education.  Founded by Zishaan Hayath and Hemanth Goteti, Toppr as a whole has witnessed 13 million+ registration & 10 million + downloads.

Vedantu super Kids

Edtech start-up Vedantu has launched ‘Vedantu super kids’ in May to equip early learners between 3 and 12 years with coding skills. It also has a project-driven coding programme for students between the age groups of six and 12 years. The programme focuses on learning, as well as developmental outcomes, including cognitive, sensory, and linguistic. Using state-of-the-art technology, Vedantu conducts sessions that are facilitated by a certified educator one-on-one on Vedantu’s live online learning platform. Vedantu’s certified educators across domains handhold the child in his or her learning process, completely personalising the experience. The program is designed by experts from MIT and IIT and supports customized learning based on the student’s learning pace which will act as a stepping stone to achieve a larger objective of developing a strong foundation in the children. Founded by Vamsi Krishna, Pulkit Jain, and Anand Prakash in 2014, the Bengaluru-based edtech startup claims that 25 million users every month from 1,000+ cities and 40+ countries access free content, tests, doubts, and videos on the platform and its channel on YouTube.

Whitehat Jr

Launched in 2019, WhiteHat Jr offers artificial intelligence (AI) courses to children aged between six and 14 years. The online platform allows children to learn programming the fun way through developing games, animations, websites, and applications. WhiteHat Jr offers courses for kids from 6-14 years of age. Through these programs offered, kids learn the fundamentals of coding–logic, structure, sequence, and algorithmic thinking–to generate creative outcomes like animations and apps.   It aims to empower children to view themselves as creators, so they become frontier inventors of the new world. The curriculum is divided into four categories – beginner, intermediate, advanced, and professional – targeting different age groups.  All the classes are conducted live, with the teacher to student ratio of 1:1. In the next phase, it wants to roll-out a 1:2 model, which will reduce the student fees considerably and enable it to cater to a wider student base. Founded by Karan Bajaj, the edtech startup focusses on coding and has signed up over 700,000 students in just over a year. It is now eyeing global expansion.

Code Chef by Unacademy

Unacademy has announced the acquisition of CodeChef, an online platform for algorithm and coding. The acquisition is likely to help the Facebook-backed firm to launch coding skills vertical for school kids. CodeChef was started in 2009 by Bhavin Turakhia, Founder and CEO of Flock, Radix, and Zeta, as a part of Directi. It was developed as a platform to help programmers enhance their skills and create a community. The eleven-year-old platform helps programmers get a foothold in computer programming through active participation via contests. The Mumbai-based company claims to have grown to over 10 lakh programmers globally.
