According to a recent report, there are 20 apps on the Android Play Store which are automatically sharing your data to Facebook without your consent. that raises privacy concerns. The study reveals the list of apps stealing and sharing data including TripAdvisor, Kayak, and Indeed, etc.
As per Privacy International, “Facebook routinely tracks users, non-users and logged-out users outside its platform through Facebook Business Tools. App developers share data with Facebook through the Facebook Software Development Kit (SDK), a set of software development tools that help developers build apps for a specific operating system. Using the free and open source software tool called "mitmproxy", an interactive HTTPS proxy, Privacy International has analyzed the data that a number of Android apps transmit to Facebook through the Facebook SDK.”
Privacy International found that 61 per cent of apps, out of 34 apps, are automatically transferring the data to Facebook the moment a user opens the app. The worst thing is- even when the user doesn't have a Facebook account or logged out from the app, data is still being shared. Also, some apps routinely send incredibly detailed and sensitive data.
