Technology is the bread-butter of our modern lives. And Social networking, the fruit punch to go with it.According to the latest data from GlobalWebIndex, most people now spend on an average 109 minutes every day on social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, as well as other social messaging apps.
The study with its panel of 50,000 adult web users around the world found that social networking has become integral to otherwise busy lives of people. Nearly 92 percent adults around the web-connected world have at least one social media account. Facebook addiction seems to be highest- 85 percent use one of Facebook's core services and 78 percent say that they are active users of at least one social network.
The study found out that 44 percent people prefer social networking sites as a way to stay connected with friends and family. Then there is a considerable chunk(39 percent) who like networking only to fill in time.
The data also revealed that consumers are devoting more of their web-based time to social networking every passing year. The average time spent on social networking increased from 96 minutes in 2012 to 100 in 2013, 103 in 2014 and now stands at 109 minutes per day.
