An urgent need has arisen to introspect deeply on the corporate governance in India. Transparency, honesty and the courage to face the business results, seems to be the need of the hour. Towards this what best practices can India Inc. put in place with respect to Corporate Governance, to ensure that all the stakeholders are assured of their investment and involvement.

Corporate Governance, in my opinion is and intent driven from the very Top to others Down below. It is organisation's culture. Mistakes will be made and corrected. The role of Corporate leaders is to be able to device a system of identifying bonafide and malafide intentions in those mistakes. It is beyond meeting a set of compliances, guidelines and statutes. The letter and more important the SPIRIT has to met. |

| So long as Indian Businesspersons think little of putting their hand in the till on the grounds that the Pvt Ltd or Public Limited company had been founded by them or their fathers or grandfathers, corporate governance is a myth. Going to a larger stage, unaccounted donations (sic) to political parties, hand-outs or haftas to policepersons and extorting bureaucrats, etc, all a way of life in corporate India, make a mockery of terms like 'Corporate Governance'. Those who pontificate on ths subject with great apparent sincerity need to look within, and ponder. |
