Web designs based around Web 2.0 has revolutionized the whole way of sharing information and using the Internet as an exciting and more interactive experience.

The Web 2.0 technology has changed the way modern businesses are conducted, using the Internet as a platform.

Sreenivasan Narayanan, vice president - Global IT Services, Nous Infosystems Ltd., in an interview with CIOL shares his experiences in implementing the Web 2.0 for clients, the advantages enterprises can look forward and how companies can leverage the best out of the technology.

 

Sreenivasan Narayanan: With the growth cycle in progress and Internet adoption on the rise, SMBs are on the lookout to differentiate themselves. Elevated collaboration/user experience is one of the key facets to this and hence Web 2.0 is naturally in the SMBs radar here and outside India.

 

SN: Collaboration, real-time interaction and enhanced user experience are some of the key advantages provided by Web 2.0 that enhances a “defined business”. But in my view the core business model takes priority for the success of a SMB.

 

SN: Web 2.0 is directly related to consumer experience and it is on the rise as this facilitates the ease of business. Economic cycle will repeat itself, but there is a tangible benefit in what Web 2.0 provides and hence it’s immune to these economic cycles as long as the core business is stable. Case in point is post dot-com bust era, lot of business that survived are the ones that are fundamentally stable businesses.

 

SN: Apart from the plain Web 2.0 on the e-commerce front, solution providers (read as developers) need to combine this with the service orientation and SaaS delivery models, as this leads to the optimal usage of software, like in utility computing and situational applications (mashup), hence will be the future of IT. In the global arena, there are several businesses already embarking on this model to create futuristic enterprise class applications, aptly named as “Enterprise 2.0”.
