HYDERABAD, INDIA: The Hyderabad police has seized a total of 3355 pirated CDs of PlayStation 2 amounting to Rs 26.8 lakh from two separate locations in the city.

Acting on a tip off from the Indian Music Industry (IMI), police seized 2146 pirated CDs from Jindal Game Traders in the Koti area of Hyderabad.

The rest were seized from Shiv Sai Electronics. The accused have been handed over to the Sultan Bazar Police Station. IMI filed the complaint with the police after its investigators surveyed the locations and confirmed the manufacturing and sales of pirated CDs.

"Such raids not only prove to be a benefit for the industry but also boost the morale of artists. We also appreciate the efforts of the local police in helping IMI retain intellectual property," said Savio D'Souza, general secretary, IMI.
